What is Estimated Energy Requirement?

Estimated Energy Requirement (EER) is a measure of the amount of energy a person needs to consume in order to maintain their body weight. What is Estimated Energy Requirement Calculator?

An Estimated Energy Requirement Calculator is a tool used to calculate the amount of energy a person needs to consume in order to maintain their current body weight. It takes into account factors such as age, gender, height, weight, and activity level to determine the amount of energy needed. The calculator can be used to help people make informed decisions about their dietary needs.

How to Calculate Estimated Energy Requirement?

Estimated Energy Requirement (EER) is the amount of energy (in kilocalories) that an individual needs to consume in order to maintain their body weight. It is calculated based on age, gender, height, weight, and physical activity level. To calculate your EER, you will need to use the following formula: EER = (10 x weight in kg) + (6.25 x height in cm) – (5 x age in years) + 5 (for males) or -161 (for females). Once you have your EER, you can then adjust it for your physical activity level. For sedentary individuals, multiply the EER by 1.2. For lightly active individuals, multiply the EER by 1.375. For moderately active individuals, multiply the EER by 1.55. For very active individuals, multiply the EER by 1.725. For example, if you are a 30-year-old male, who is 170 cm tall and weighs 70 kg, and you are moderately active, your EER would be calculated as follows: EER = (10 x 70) + (6.25 x 170) – (5 x 30) + 5 = 2,085 kcal/day Adjusted EER = 2,085 x 1.55 = 3,223 kcal/day
